Named one of “The Top Ten Rappers in OC” by the OC Weekly, THEMOSTCRITICAL (commonly and aka Critical) has drawn growing comparisons to legendary lyricist, Andre 3000 since the release of his Life In Critical Times EP on January 13th, 2017, attributing his eclectic and unique voice to the diversity of Oldies, and 90's/early-2000's Hip Hop, R&B, and Neo-Soul that played constantly throughout his childhood.
Born Andre Jones, his passion for commanding the mic and speaking his truth blossomed during his college years at California State University - Fullerton. There, he hosted his very own Hip Hop radio show, “Situation, Critical,” and truly realized his love for delivering life's news before graduating with a bachelor's degree in journalism.
"That's where my passion really took off. I wanted to be up on the latest and hottest music, and what was going on. I NEEDED to be. I became a student-of-the-game. At the same time, studying journalism showed me the importance and the principles of communicating the story in a different perspective, " he states.
THEMOSTCRITICAL has delivered his story across the nation, with tour-stops ranging from Salt Lake City to Atlanta, and New York, while grabbing blog attention in the DMV-area and the UK as well. The sound of the independent rapper's debut EP, however, is one completely home-grown.
Life In Critical Times was recorded, mixed, and mastered at The OC Recording Company in Santa Ana, by Asaf Fulks who has "engineered for platinum and Grammy winning artists Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, Kendrick Lamar and others." Crafted alongside fellow Anaheim-natives and lead producers, Telli Zantana, and Absurd P, the 14-track studio-album is a powerful introduction to the lyricist - a comprehensive, in-depth body-of-work worthy of your undivided attention.
